October 13th, 2008 marked the arrival of Elmo Live; the dancing, rapping and storytelling animatronic doll that’ll be burning up retail this holiday season! We’ve thoroughly evaluated his MC skills, jokes and hugging ability. He’s a really fun little animatronic dude, at least for a short little while. Elmo has four touch sensitive buttons that allow you to touch his foot, back, nose and stomach- and he does different things depending on where you press. It’s good to see that Elmo still raps, and his instant classic “Elmo’s gotta get on up” is as head-bobbing as ever! When you touch him on his back, he says all kinds of insanely lovable things such as asking for hugs or asking you to scratch his itch, etc. In reality, Elmo can get downright clingy!
Located at Eastern State Penitentiary, Terror Behind the Walls is like fear on steroids. You know, the kind of fear that follows you home and takes up permanent residence in your psyche.
My family animatronic dinosaur suppliers loves to take a leisurely stroll down the length of Coney Mall at Kings Island an old fashioned area dedicated to classic carnival rides arcades and gotta-win-it games. One thing we we never fond of was the tar underfoot. There was nothing worse than trying to down a fresh Subway sandwich while inhaling the stink of the black pavement on a hot day!
Parking is limited and requires valet service, so I’d recommend using the lot across the street by the Hawaiian Marketplace, or using the tram that stops at The Crystals from the Bellagio or the Monte Carlo. Although the Eve nightclub is upstairs, the only free entertainment is, the unique fountains, the art, the unique park itself, and the magnificent stores linked by walkways that sometimes go to nowhere by design.
Living Statues perform all day in St. Mark’s Square and in front of Ann Taylor. These performers are good enough to be mistaken for real statues, and can be a shocker when one moves a little to adjust their pose near you. They are quite amazing to behold.
Mystic Falls, at Sam’s Town, Las Vegas, has always been one of our favorite attractions. The sounds of the water, the animatronic dinosaur creatures – eagle calling, bear roaring, wolf howling – and the laser lights and music have been a must-see for all our friends who are visiting Vegas. Now Mystic Falls has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland.
Thomas Town was the first to lose its theme. The trains will stay but the face will go. It will now be just an unbranded whistle-stop depot. Several Six Flags parks built a Thomas Town in their parks since 2007, and all of them will get the same treatment as Six Flags cuts the licensing agreement. But while painting over a few Thomas the Train references were simple enough, the Terminator: Salvation coaster won’t be so easy — and Six Flags is taking a much bigger financial hit.
Eight to twelve year olds enjoy hands-on toys like building sets and electronics. If you’re still stumped, consider buying a gift certificate or gift card to a toy store. Happy Holidays!
